HOW TO SIZE AND SAVE FILES FOR DIGITAL PROJECTION

Images need to be set to a particular size for digital projection.  They must not exceed the ‘projector’ limits which are 1400 x 1050 pixels.

Using ‘Photoshop’ select ‘Image’ > ‘Image Size’.  Make sure the ‘Resample’ and ‘Constrain’ boxes are ticked.  The resolution is not critical but may be set to 200 if you wish.  If your image is in horizontal format, change the width to 1400 pixels and click ‘OK’.  The height should not exceed the 1050 dimension but can be less.  If your image is vertical or square format, then the height is the critical dimension and should be set to 1050 pixels.  The width should be less than 1400 pixels.  IN EITHER CASE, PIXEL DIMENSION SHOULD NOT EXCEED 1400 x 1050.  When this is completed select ‘File’ > ‘File Info’ and follow the instructions below.

HOW COMPLETE ‘FILE INFO’ FOR DIGITAL PROJECTION

All Projected Digital Images (PDI) require essential information before projection can take place.  With the open image on your screen, please complete the file info section in Photoshop as follows:

In ‘Photoshop’ select ‘File’ > ‘File Info’.  In the dialogue box entitled ‘Document Title’ enter your image title (Just the title, nothing else).  In the dialogue box underneath entitled ‘Author’ enter your name (Just your name, nothing else).  The title of the image will be shown briefly on the projection screen, so please make sure the title is as it should be and spelt correctly.  Also details will generated for score-sheet.  Then select ‘Edit’ > ‘Convert’ and change to ‘sRGB’ to keep the image compatible with the club projector.  Finally, always save your image as a ‘JPEG’ file (Maximum Quality. i.e.: 12).

IMAGE TITLES

When submitting image titles (Print & PDI) be sure to show order of preference (ie: 1-2-3).  In the event of an oversubscribed competition, all higher numbers may have to be withdrawn.

HOW TO PRESENT PRINTS FOR COMPETITIONS

Prints submitted for competitions inclusive of the mount should not exceed 50cm x 40cm (20” x 16”) unless otherwise stated.  The author’s name, plus an image title should be shown at the top left on the back of the print mount.
